Why your thanksgiving spread is going to cost more this 2022

Having people around for Thanksgiving may fill your heart, but will drain your bank account in 2022.

Market research predicts that a Thanksgiving meal in 2022 will cost about 13.5% more than that of  2021.

Even if retailers offer promotions in the weeks leading up to the holiday, prices will still be higher than 2021.

Turkey prices have reportedly jumped after the bird flu wiped out livestock earlier in 2022.

Another report confirms that in September 2022, there was a seasonal shift in grocery prices and they shot up 13%.

Eggs have also been impacted by bird flu and have risen 32.5% while butter and flour have risen 25.8% and 17.1%.

A survey states that 38% of consumers are already expected to pay more for Thanksgiving meals this year.

A typical Thanksgiving basket, including frozen turkey, fresh cranberries, sweet potatoes and more, will cost $30 and feed 10 people.

Meanwhile, discount retailers have picked up new customers as inflation has risen.
