What is National First Responders Day all about?

National First Responders Day marks October 28.

It recognizes the heroic men and women who take immediate action when disaster strikes.

The day is aimed at honoring the bravery of the Nation’s heroes who put their lives at risk to save those in need.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, 4.6 million career and volunteer first responders support communities in need.

This includes firefighters, police, emergency medical technicians, paramedics and 911 operators.

In an emergency, they’re the first on the scene.

They are dedicated professionals who answer the call when a crisis hit and often put their own lives on the line.

The White House has committed an American Rescue Plan worth over $10 billion in funds for public safety and violence prevention.
