Ukraine war: France tells Russia to come back to the negotiating table

French President Emmanuel Macron has urged his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to "come back to the discussion table" on Ukraine.

He has promised to deliver air defense systems to Ukraine amid Russia's bombing campaign.

"Putin must stop this war, respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine and come back to the discussion table," Macron said.

He added that Russia’s missile bombardment targeted energy infrastructure and civilians to break Ukrainian resistance.

He also warned Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus against the country's involvement in the conflict.

The French defense ministry allocated $47.9 billion to its military budget in 2022.

Russia, on the other hand, boosted its military expenditure to $65.9 billion in 2022.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's military expenditure was estimated at $5.94 billion in 2021.
