Twilio lays off 11% of staff to increase profitability in 2023

Cloud communications firm Twilio has said it will lay off 11% of its workforce.

Around 800 to 900 Twilio employees are expected to be fired from the company's R&D, administrative and general departments.

As of 2022, the total workforce headcount of the company is about 7,860.

Twilio’s move is the latest in the “layoff” announcements made by major brands like Meta, Snap and Calm among others.

The layoff season has come in the US amid the incoming recession and rising inflation.

Twilio has a net worth of $12.88 billion in 2022.

The current estimated net worth of Twilio Inc's CEO Jeff Lawson is estimated to be about $359.34 million.
