Truth Social: Can Donald Trump's social network beat Twitter?

Truth Social, former prez Donald Trump’s tech pet project, is off to a  bumpy start.

Since its launch in February 2022, the iPhone app has had several glitches and still has over 1.5 million users on the waiting list.

What made it worse is the exit of two of the social media platform’s top executives.

Despite the troubled start, Trump’s net worth has increased by 35% since he exited office over 14 months ago.

The two entities behind Truth Social are Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) and Digital World Acquisition  Corp (DWAC).

TMTG's planned merger with DWAC reportedly cost $1.25 billion.

Truth Social looks a lot like Twitter, which banned Trump after the Capitol riots in January 2021.

While it might look like Twitter, it isn't available on Android phones, web browsers or to most people outside the US.

Truth Social claims to have no shadow-bans, demonetizing or tampering with algorithms for political manipulation.
