The Woman King: Viola Davis slays in true story on woman warriors

The Woman King is a historic epic based on the warriors of Agojie in the 18th and 19th century.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film stars Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, and John Boyega.

Viola Davis is an Oscar-winning actor who plays General Nanisca in the movie.

The Agojie are a unit of women who swear off marriage and motherhood to pursue martial arts and defend the kingdom.

The plot mixes bloody battle scenes with discussions of leadership and chosen family.

The movie will be released on September 16, 2022.

The action spectacle around the true story of female warriors was a small-medium budget production with a production cost of $50 million.
