Amazon;s $1 Billion bet on 'Lord of the Rings' Trilogy that was labeled “Unfilmable” is taking off.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy by JRR Tolkien was earlier labeled unable to adapt for the big screen.

The $1 billion bet made by Amazon on ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ is a  50-hour television series based on book three.

The show, which debuts globally on Prime Video hopes to capitalize on the appeal of books.

It is a key component of Amazon’s effort to differentiate itself from Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max.

It is funded by the company’s billionaire founder and ardent Tolkien lover Jeff Bezos.

Season 1 introduces the characters, their personalities and welcomes new members to the family.
