Tattoos have become one of the most common body decorations across the world.

Incidentally, getting a tattoo can be painful.

Various parts of the body experience different levels of pain when tattooed.

The least painful places to get tattooed are those with the most fat, thickest skin and least number of nerve endings.

On the other hand, the most painful places to get tattooed are those with the least fat, thinnest skin and most nerve endings.

The most painful areas include armpit, rib cage, ankles, nipples, breasts, behind the knees, face, neck, spine, lips among others.

The least painful spots include thighs, calves, upper arms, outer shoulders, upper and lower back.

It is advised to consult a doctor if the pain remains for longer duration or if the tattoo bleeds.
