Northern lights: It's a good time to look up tonight

The sky is going to be lit tonight as you might get to see the northern lights.

A geomagnetic storm might pass over parts of Canada, Oregon, Iowa, Pennsylvania and New York.

NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center issued a geomagnetic storm watch from August 17 to 19.

This is due to coronal high-speed stream and coronal mass ejection influences.

Auroras form when high-energy particles from the Sun collide with the Earth’s atmosphere.

However, nothing can guarantee that the lights will show up on any given night.

The current forecast shows the strongest part of the storm arriving on the night of August 18.

In order to know for sure, if you're in the said area, look up and hope for the best!
