US Open 2022: Nick Krygios fined for breaking racket after losing match

Nick Kyrgios was fined $14,000 for destroying two rackets after his US Open quarterfinal loss to Karen Khachanov.

This is the biggest ever fine at the US Open 2022.

So far, Kyrgios has been penalized five times with a combined fine of $32,500.

Earlier in the tournament, he was fined $7,500 for spitting and swearing.

The fine will be automatically deducted from the overall $473,200 salary Krygios earned at the year’s final Grand Slam.

This is a combination of $445,000 for singles and $28,200 for doubles at the tournament.

Owing to his impressive match record, Krygios has made millions in prize money and endorsement deals with sports brands.

As of 2022, the Australian tennis player has an estimated net worth of $15 million.
