Monkeypox 2022: Biden administration announces new vaccine strategy

The Biden administration has announced a new vaccine strategy to tackle Monkeypox.

It involves stretching the limited available doses of the Jynneos Monkeypox vaccine and changing how the vaccine is injected.

The new method will quintuple available vaccine supply because only one-fifth of a whole vaccine is administered per shot.

The partial dose of the vaccine would be injected into the upper layer of skin rather than a full dose into the underlying fat.

This way, recipients will still get two doses, four weeks apart.

The new strategy is an acknowledgement that the country does not have enough supply of vaccines against demand.

There are 400,000 vials that are currently in stock.  They now have the potential to give out 2 million doses.
