Monkeypox: What activities are safe and what are not

Monkeypox is everywhere now and has spread to every state in the US.

If you don’t want to catch it, here is a list of activities that are safe and what you should avoid until it subsides.

Sex seems to pose a truly significant monkeypox risk.

Check yourself and your partner for any new rashes before getting intimate.

CDC recommends that people with monkeypox remain isolated at home or at another location for the duration of illness.

It's safe to avoid close contact with pets in the home and other animals.

Casual contact like shaking somebody’s hand, touching a doorknob and similar interactions are not high risk.

That also means restaurants, movie theaters, house parties or concerts aren’t likely to pose much risk.
