Miniclip is officially shutting down: End of an online era

Miniclip has announced that it will be shutting down all its online servers.

Only Agario and 8 Ball Pool will remain in operation, according to reports.

It was a free-to-play site of web games, highly popular among millennials during their childhood.

Miniclip launched in 2001 with a meager budget of $45,000.

The company (Miniclip SA) was later valued at $310 million in 2008 after it became a popular site among teens to play games.

The site had over 400 games in all categories, from first-person shooters to strategy and cooking games.

After witnessing a decline in players on the site, Miniclip announced it will be focusing on mobile games instead of web classics.

The company amassed over 4 billion downloads after announcing its iOS and Android games.
