LeBron James signs $97.1 million extension with Los Angeles Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has agreed to a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension.

The extension includes a 15% trade kicker making James the highest-earning player in NBA history and a Laker for as long as he chooses.

He also gets $532 million in career guaranteed money, surpassing Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant.

James was entering the final season of his previous contract worth $44.5 million and the new contract's starting salary is $46.7 million.

With the deal, the 4-time NBA champion and 18-time All-Star eliminates concern that he could enter free agency next summer.

Despite approaching age 38, James remains an All-NBA-level player and the centerpiece of the Lakers' contention hopes.

LeBron James is an American professional basketball player and entrepreneur with a net worth of $600 million in 2022.

He is founder of The Lebron James Family Foundation that donated $41 million to send over kids to college.
