Kanye West’s school Donda Academy closes amid controversy

Kanye West’s Donda Academy in California has announced closure with immediate effect.

An email to parents said that the Donda Academy would close for the remainder of the 2022-23 school year.

Principal Jason Angell said the decision came “at the discretion of our founder," according to reports.

It added that it plans to “begin afresh in September of 2023."

Kanye West’s school reportedly charges $15,000 a year along with non-disclosure agreements signed by parents.

With about 100 students, the school was non-accredited and classes included choir and parkour.

The development follows a backlash against Ye after he made several anti-semitic comments in recent weeks.

Numerous brands including Adidas have announced their split with the rapper amid the controversy.

His net worth has reduced to about $4 million after Adidas confirmed its separation from the rapper.
