Biden reassures US would defend Taiwan if China attacks

President Biden said US forces would defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion.

Recently, POTUS said the US forces would defend Taiwan if there was an unprecedented attack from China.

Earlier in September, US agreed on selling $1.1 billion worth weaponry to Taiwan.

The package includes a $655 million radar warning system and $355 million for 60 Harpoon missiles.

It also includes $85.6 million for Sidewinder surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles, Pentagon said.

In August, the Pentagon created a task force to help streamline the sale of American weaponry to foreign allies.

The development has come after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi became the most senior US official in 25 years to visit Taipei.

The move has angered China, escalating tensions between Beijing and Washington.
