James Webb Telescope: How much does the space project cost

NASA has revealed a series of pictures from the James Webb Telescope at the White House.

President Joe Biden called the reveal a historic day in space and science frontiers.

However, the first image from the James Webb Space Telescope doesn't seem remarkable.

The picture was compared to holding a grain of sand at the tip of your finger at arm's length. It covered just one little speck of the universe.

The James Webb Space Telescope is expected to cost NASA close to $9.7 billion over 24 years.

Around $8.8 billion was spent on spacecraft development between 2003 and 2021.

A whopping $861 million has been set aside to support five years of operations.

The telescope is one of the most expensive scientific platforms after the Hubble Telescope and the Hadron Collider.
