Hurricane Ian heads to South Carolina after slamming Florida

Hurricane Ian is exiting Florida as a tropical storm but is likely to regain hurricane status.

Forecasters are warning of a dangerous storm surge and other impacts, from Florida to North Carolina.

A hurricane warning is now in effect for the entire coastline of South Carolina.

Gov Henry McMaster has asked people of the state to make plans for every contingency.

The current forecast track sees Ian moving out northeast over the ocean as it passes Jacksonville.

It is then reported to turn towards the northwest, making landfall between Savannah and Charleston.

SC Emergency Management believes that they will not see the full force of hurricane Ian the way Florida did.

However, many areas along the coast are expected to see up to 8-inches of rain.
