How often should you wash your hair?

Washing your hair too much can remove the sebum your scalp produces, which is vital to healthy, shiny hair.

The shampoo is designed to clean the scalp and remove excess oil. But if it’s overused it can damage your hair.

There's no single answer to how often people should wash their hair. It boils down to personal preference.

Washing your hair depends on your hair type and styling choices.

If hair is visibly oily, the scalp is itching or there’s flaking due to dirt, those are signs it’s time to shampoo.

If your hair is regularly styled, you may be able to get away with going longer without lathering up.

Only a small group needs to shampoo daily: those with very fine hair, someone who exercises a lot (and sweats) or lives in a humid place.

The thicker your hair and the less oil, the less you need to shampoo.

If you don't have any scalp problems, it's ok to wash your hair once a week.

Otherwise generally, it is recommended that you wash your hair every other day or every 2 to 3 days.
