How a head of lettuce outlasting Liz Truss went viral

British PM Liz Truss announced her resignation amid controversy over the economic crisis in the country.

According to a report, Truss had just "seven days in control", which the magazine equated to "roughly the shelf-life of a lettuce."

On a live feed, a British tabloid asked: "Will Liz Truss outlast this lettuce?"

"BREAKING NEWS: THE LETTUCE HAS OFFICIALLY OUTLASTED LIZ TRUSS AND WON," the tabloid added in a tweet.

Truss became the UK prime minister on September 6.

"I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party," Truss said in her resignation speech.

She will be the shortest-serving prime minister in modern political history.

The 47-year-old politician has a net worth of $8.2 million in 2022.
