7 golden rules to money etiquette

Money etiquette is a set of generally accepted rules regarding money in society.

Most people have different philosophies around money, but here are the 7 golden rules to etiquette.

1. Try not to inquire about one’s debt during family functions.

2. Check about splitting bills when you go out with friends beforehand. You might be overspending.

3. Do not not outright ask  another’s salary. It’s deemed rude and can lead to feelings of inadequacy.

4. Be upfront with those who could be negatively impacted by financial information.

5. Despite all the curiosity you hold within, do not ask for one’s credit score on a first date. It's not your business.

6. Remember that there’s no point in harshly judging others on how and why they spend their money. To each their own.

7. Debt shaming is just as bad as looking down on someone who doesn’t have a lot of money.
