FDA warns against cooking chicken in NyQuil after TikTok trend

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said cooking chicken in cough medicine NyQuil is 'very unsafe'.

The warning comes after TikTok users posted videos of cooking chicken in NyQuil.

Manufactured by Vicks, NyQuil contains acetaminophen, dextromethorphan and doxylamine.

Inhaling the medication's vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body and hurt the lungs, the FDA said.

TikTok has an estimated 80 million monthly active users in the United States.

NyQuil is one of the biggest selling branded over-the-counter medications sold in the US.

Procter & Gamble purchased Richardson-Vicks in 1985 in a $1.2 billion-worth deal.
