Elon Musk drops idea to join Twitter's board of directors

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has declined to join Twitter's board of directors.

Musk recently purchased a 9.2% stake in Twitter consisting of 73.5 million shares for $2.9 billion.

Musk joining Twitter's board was contingent on not buying 15% of Twitter. He had earlier accused Twitter of stifling free speech.

His declining to join the board raises questions like "can he buy as much of Twitter's outstanding stock as he wants?"

Elon Musk is the world's richest man with a net worth of $290 billion.

Musk wants to use his money to send people to Mars through his SpaceX company.

His top five investments include PayPal, SpaceX, DeepMind Technologies, Tesla Motors and The Boring Company.
