Bed Bath & Beyond earnings 2022: CFO dies after falling from NYC building

Executive vice president and CFO at Bed Bath & Beyond Gustavo Arnal fell from an NYC building and died on September 2.

The news came days after the home retail giant announced store closures and layoffs.

The New York City medical examiner’s office said the executive died from multiple blunt trauma and that he had taken his own life.

Arnal joined Bed Bath & Beyond in 2020, after having worked at Avon, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Procter & Gamble.

Bed Bath & Beyond announced a plan to re-energize the company after sinking sales and leadership changes.

The sales fell to $1.46 billion from $1.95 billion in 2021 and the company expected to hit a sales of only $1.51 billion this year.

The New Jersey-based retailer said it would cut its workforce by 20% and shutter roughly 150 stores.
